TMNT Format Update - Rules and Banlist Announcement
Summary of Changes
- New Banned Category Added - Banned as Companion
- Lutri, the Spellchaser – Moved from Banned to Banned as Companion
New Banned Category Added - Banned as Companion
Recently, Commander officially introduced the "Banned as Companion" rules category. After some internal discussion, the committee unanimously voted to adopt this framework for Tiny Leaders Reborn.
Historically, we’ve avoided creating format-specific restriction categories to keep the ruleset as streamlined as possible. However, now that the broader Commander rules framework has laid the official groundwork for this category, we’ve chosen to align with it. Cards in this category are completely legal to play in your maindeck or sideboard, they simply cannot be revealed or played as your Companion during pregame procedures.
Lutri, the Spellchaser – Moved to Banned as Companion
With the introduction of the new rules category, we are officially freeing the elemental otter from the general banlist.
When we fully banned Lutri back in August 2025, our reasoning was strictly tied to how it functioned mechanically as a Companion. In a singleton format, Lutri acted as a completely free, (almost) auto-include 51st card for any Izzet deck, providing guaranteed value with zero deckbuilding cost. We noted even then that we didn't consider Lutri an inherently broken card on its own.
Final Notes
There are no other changes to the banlist or watchlist for this update.
